Newly launched funding program, aXis (Accelerating Social Implementation for SDGs Achievement), is a one-year funding scheme under supplementary budget originally appropriated for FY 2019.
The new international collaborative scheme comes in two types , Type A puts more emphasis on social implementation overseas with a budget up to 90 million JPY and is designed to make use of the accumulated STI achievements;. Type B with a budget up to 30 million JPY encourages Japanese researchers to conduct feasibility studies for future implementation. Both types of the program cover the areas of energy / environment, disaster prevention / mitigation and bio-resources.
Twenty collaborative proposals that have been successfully selected and are being carried out in close cooperation with counterpart institutes / universities in Asia, Africa and South America.
