We contribute to the achievement of SDGs

RISTEX contributes to solving specific issues in society through R&D that applies knowledge from natural sciences and humanities/social sciences, and that involves a broad range of stakeholders. Within this context, RISTEX launched "SOLVE: Solution-Driven Co-creative R&D Program for SDGs (Scenario Creation Phase, Solution Creation Phase)" in FY2019, as a new funding program under the Strategic Basic Research Programs (RISTEX). The program promotes R&D comprehensively, which ranges from clarification of social issues and bottlenecks to solutions, creation of solution scenarios, to creation of actual solutions (demonstration cases). This is to be achieved by applying scientific methods derived from knowledges of the natural sciences and humanities/social sciences, and by collaborating/co-creating with various stakeholders.

Furthermore, in FY2021, RISTEX started to fund R&D specifically targeting social isolation and loneliness in a scheme under SOLVE, "Co-creative R&D Program for the Achievement of the SDGs (Preventing Social Isolation & Loneliness and Creating Diversified Social Networks)." Through these and other initiatives, RISTEX continues to play an important role in achieving the SDGs.
