Initiatives taken by RISTEX following the Great East Japan Earthquake

July 13, 2016

RISTEX prays for the souls of those who perished in the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11th, 2011 and extends its heartfelt sympathy to the disaster's victims and their families. We hope for an early recovery in all affected areas.

RISTEX has been conducting R&D to solve various social issues such as aging society, global warming, and safety and security, based on the philosophy of "science with and for society." In the wake of the recent Great East Japan Earthquake, several projects have started to support the disaster's victims and affected areas, and to engage in activities to resolve problems faced by them. The following shows the information about these projects.

Promotion of Social Implementation of Solutions Related to the Great East Japan Earthquake

RISTEX, to contribute to post-disaster recovery and reconstruction of areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, called for proposals which aim to implement R&D outcomes with immediate impacts particularly to areas affected by the disaster. (Call for proposal has ended.)
The duration of funding was from the beginning of the project till March 31, 2012, and the amount of funding ranged from 5 to 10 million yen per project.
As this urgent call was limited to FY2011, we specifically called for proposals of which activities were detailed and of which impacts on disaster recovery and reconstruction were already clearly demonstrated, such as reconstruction of social/urban infrastructure, logistics streamlining, and development of methodologies for NPO to support local communities.
