Activities of the R&D Focus Area ended in March 2008.

Program Supervisor

YAMAMOTO Ryoichi

Professor, Institute of Industrial Science,
the University of Tokyo
(as of the completion of the R&D Focus Area)

This R&D area focuses on broadly defined "recycling-oriented society" study, which comprehensively approaches global environmental issues from the perspectives of science and technology, and social science, beyond individual elemental technologies.
Specifically, it encompasses : indicator group development to determine sustainable development, research on how to build new social systems and business models for designing, producing, proliferating and circulating eco-efficient technologies, products and services, research on how to shape environmental epistemic communities.
