COP15 Side-event Symposium: TOWARDS GREEN GROWTH & GREEN INNOVATION - Environmental Science and Technology Cooperation between Developed and Developing Countries - (Copenhagen, Denmark, December 7, 2009)
Rationale & Overview
United Nations Climate Change Conference 2009 (COP15) could be a giant leap towards transforming the global economy as well as societies around the world into greener and more sustainable ones. In the hopes of contributing to the success of COP15, JST and JICA are hosting a side-event symposium which helps the conference participants to visualize concrete measures for achieving emissions reductions and economic growth, which are both possible through environmental science and technology cooperation between developed and developing countries.

JST Technology for Your NEXT Innovation (Chicago, March 10, 2009)
An overseas seeds seminar, "JST Technology for Your NEXT Innovation," was held on Tuesday, March 10th at Pittcon 2009. The aim of the seminar was to further strengthen technical transfers of our patents overseas. The seminar was held in a seminar room at PITTCON (Pittsburgh Conference), which boasts the world's largest analytical chemistry and applied spectroscopy Conference and Exposition. The seminar involved a total of 11 themed presentations, including 8 seeds seminars, 2 technical transfer cases, and 1 commissioned business, all with their own respective themes. Aided by prior visits/promotional activities to the booths of exhibiting companies where the presented techniques and posters were displayed summarizing the techniques described in the presentations, and during which there were inquiries such as an from an American business that was interested and wished to know the licensing conditions, the seminar led to the growing expectation of further expansion taking place.

The Next Generation Japanese Technology Showcase: Global Accessibility to Japanese Innovations from premier Japanese research institutions (New York, January 14, 2009)
This assembly was co-hosted by Nagoya University and JST for the purpose of promoting international industrial-academia-government collaborations as part of the "Strategic Development of Industry-University-Government (I-U-G) Collaborations Project (Strategic development program)" sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology. This time presentations with a total of 13 themes were made: 5 of the themes involved physical science seeds and 8 of the themes life science seeds. As part of the JST seeds Professor Sugiyama of Kyoto University, a Keio University lecturer Mr. Shimazaki, and Professor Sakurai of the University of Kitakyushu made presentations that included the latest research results with consideration given to their future marketing, which attracted many participants. Consultations with some of the people in charge of foreign companies were made with some of the presented seeds. The entire assembly had high expectations concerning positive future collaborations.
