Singapore <Cooperation with Each Country>

1) Field of Cooperation - "Functional Applications in Physical Sciences"

In January 2009, when Mr. Koichi Iwase, then of Deputy Director-General for Science and Technology Policy, MEXT, visited Mr Lim Chuan Poh, Chairman of A*STAR, they agreed to promote more collaboration between the two countries in science and technology. After having several meetings between the two countries, JST and A*STAR concluded their MoU for collaboration on March 18th, 2009.

2) Funding Agency on Singapore Side

Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR)
The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is Singapore's lead agency for fostering world-class scientific research and talent for a vibrant knowledge-based and innovation-driven Singapore. A*STAR oversees 14 biomedical sciences, and physical sciences and engineering research institutes, and seven consortia & centre, which are located in Biopolis and Fusionopolis, as well as their immediate vicinity. A*STAR supports Singapore's key economic clusters by providing intellectual, human and industrial capital to its partners in industry. It also supports extramural research in the universities, hospitals, research centres, and with other local and international partners.
