It is recognized that the background and manifestations of “social isolation” and the strategies to address it vary across generations, regions, and other attributes, but they also share a significant degree of commonality. Our previous epidemiological studies have shown that individuals who interact not only with their peers but also with other generations in some way tend to experience better mental well-being. On the other hand, “social isolation and loneliness” and economic challenges have a significant reciprocal impact. I would like to consider intergenerational exchange and employment support as potential remedies to address “social isolation and loneliness” in this program. However, the practical challenges of implementing both intergenerational exchange and employment support are “easier said than done.” This is because they require interdisciplinary collaboration. This program is expected to elucidate the mechanisms and structures that facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration.
