Nanoparticles with multiple modalities and functionalities are promising materials for efficient detection and treatment of cancers. However, in vivo applications of such nanoparticles are limited because of poor methods for both development of such nanoparticles and degradation of used nanoparticles. In this project I will make the best use of light to lift the above limitations through photofabrication and photodecomposition of novel fluorescent-magnetic bimodal nanoparticles. Furthermore, the bimodal nanoparticles thus prepared will be used for selective imaging and photodynamic therapy of cancer.
