Outline of Research Theme
Skyrmion is a vortex-like spin swirling object with particle nature, recently identified in some magnetic materials. Its nanometric scale and electric controllability highlights skyrmion as a promising building block for next generation of magnetic storage device, which may contribute to improve the capacity, energy efficiency, and rare-earth dependent nature of magnetic bubble memory. This reserch project aims for the search of new materials with skyrmion spin textures, as well as the control of skyrmions by external stimuli such as electric field and light.
