This project aims at the creation of a new class of solid-state hosts, based on the cross-linking of liquid crystalline aggregates composed of a template molecule and a polymerizable amphiphile. Facile manipulation of the components would lead us to the rational design of porous materials with desired properties, regarding pore size/shape, chirality, flexibility, as well as the arrangement of functional groups in the cavities.
