Development of Novel Materials Employing Supramolecular Fullerenes with Controlled Dimensionality
Senior Researcher, National Institute for Materials Science, Organic Nanomaterials Center
http://www.nims.go.jp/macromol/nakanishi/

The project is aiming to develop supramolecular materials with versatile morphologies controlled dimensionality and functionalities based on self-organization of fullerene derivatives. For instance, hierarchically ordered superhydrophobic fullerene assemblies and unexplored ionic liquid fullerenes are desired supramolecular materials. Furthermore, theoretical understanding for the formation mechanism and the weak intermolecular interactions of complex assemblies at nano/micrometer scale is attempted. Also transcription techniques from the discrete supramolecular assemblies to inorganic metal materials would be prepared for unique implementation of the supramolecular objects in practical applications. image
