Construction and
Dynamic Structural Regulation of Functional
Aromatic Foldamers
(Associate Professor, Department of
Chemistry, Faculty of Science,

University)
This project
involves construction and dynamic structural
regulation of aromatic foldamers. I have shown
that N-methylated aromatic amides exist in cis
form in the crystals and in solvent. The steric
properties are useful for the construction of
unique structures such as aromatic multi-layers
and helices. The structures and the assembly of
the foldamers can be regulated by the
introduction of molecular switching systems,
based on the amide conformations, which would be
applied to development of the molecular
devices.
