Synthesis of
Biosupramolecules using Protein
Nanotubes
(Professor, Faculty of Science and
Engineering, Chuo University)
The aim of this project
is to synthesize a new class of
biosupramolecules by inclusion of biopolymers
into the one-dimensional inner pore of a protein
nanotube. Human serum albumin, the most abundant
plasma protein, is employed as the tube
component. The combination of functional
molecule incorporated into the albumin and
biopolymer in the nanotube allows us to realize
a variety of functions. This chemistry will lead
to the development of new medicines and
biosensors.
