In our study, heteroatom-heteroatom interactions are applied to molecular self-assembly process as a new motif for the construction of self-organized nanostructures. Face-to-face pi-pi stacked packing arrangement of the polyacene rings of bis(alkylthio)polyacenes will be controlled by S-S interactions to bring out the ability of organic field-effect transistor at its maximum. Self-assembly of a bowl-shaped macrocyclic host with iodo groups into a hexameric cubic capsule will be achieved in water by micelle formation and I-I interactions to develop an inclusion nanospace directed toward drug delivery.
