Value Creation Course

For acquiring the expertise and skills needed to engage in technology transfer activities and for nurturing the abilities to supervise and create businesses:

In this course, participants will explore a series of cases featuring the roadmap to commercialization and systematically learn the knowledge required to realize commercialization. Participants are expected to acquire capabilities to produce and supervise projects, which will enable them to build and drive such projects.

Curriculum

Participants will learn the processes of commercialization based on case studies. The curriculum focuses on group work and discussions.

  • Overview of industry-academia collaboration activities
    Participants will obtain an overview of technology transfer activities and acquire the necessary perspectives to engage in coordination activities.
  • Selection and evaluation of research findings
    Participants will learn how to screen and evaluate research findings, using tools such as the triage method.
  • Generation of added value from research findings
    Participants will learn about the need for and generation of added value from research findings, and explore the possibilities of creating new value or markets.
  • IP strategies
    Participants will learn how to develop research activities from their earliest stage based on potential exit strategies, and explore concepts concerning IP strategies.
  • Scenario building for commercialization
    Participants will learn the essential concepts for building a scenario toward the commercialization of products and services based on research findings.
  • Road-mapping
    Participants will learn the development processes of commercialization using a road-mapping framework.
