Development of Novel Synthetic Transformations
by Cooperative Multi-Element Catalysis

Research Project Outline

The project pursues novel synthetic transformations through clavage of unreactive chemical bonds and challenging bond forming processes enabled by "cooperative multi-element catalysis". The goal of this research program is to develop new reactions that are much more step- and atom-economical than conventional ways to produce pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, polymers, and organic materials used for liquid crystals and organic solar cells. This should contribute to a sustainable society through providing chemical processes that can utilize fossil resources and biomass in highly efficient manner.
