Summary

This project aims to establish a sustainable circular materials industry based on plant biomass by developing an integrated green process to produce high-value materials and enable resource circulation in society.
Plant biomass is inherently diverse and structurally complex, making its efficient conversion and utilization a major challenge.
In particular, conventional processes degrade lignin, limiting its value and application potential.
Our key challenges are to establish a circular materials industry that fully utilizes all components of plant biomass, to create an integrated system linking feedstock, production, products, and recycling, and to enable applications across agriculture, electronics, and mobility sectors.
Through a green process that transforms plant biomass into high-value materials, the project is expected to enable a sustainable industry with reduced CO₂ emissions and support the transition toward a carbon-neutral society.
