Unraveling information carrier in nervous systems based on transient response of the nervous systems |
Information from the external world that our nervous systems receive is transient. Moreover, the operation of the nervous systems is also in that regime. Even though the information is carried by the membrane potential change that is called a spike, it is not known which statistic of the spikes carries the information. In this study, we develop mathematical techniques for analyzing the transient response of the nervous systems. We apply the techniques to analyze the experimental data and try to unravel the information carrier.
