Theoretical studies on the pattern of coalition formation in social animals |
In social animals, especially in primates, it is widely reported that two or more individuals act cooperatively in conflicts over resources. This cooperative team is called coalition. In coalition formation, choice of collaborators is crucial to individual success. Here I develop a new mathematical model that describes the power-game in animal societies. I derive theoretical predictions of which coalition is most likely to be formed under which condition.
