Miho OhsugiMaternally controlled early embryonic cell divisions and their involvement in mammalian developmentMiho Ohsugi In very early-stage mammalian embryos, the cell cycle is controlled by maternal factors and mitotic process is regulated in a specialized manner. In this project, I address the questions: gWhat are the characteristic features of maternally controlled cell divisions?h and gWhat are the fundamental mechanisms for chromosome segregation that meiotic-, mitotic-, and maternal-divisions all shared in common?h The importance of maternally controlled cell divisions in mammalian development will also be addressed.
