Outline

ATP is mainly produced by the mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation which consists of over 100 proteins. In this study, we focus on the novel activation ligands of the oxidative phosphorylation enzymes and analyze their structural-functional relationship. Also we develop the novel in vivo and in vitro methods to accurately assess the ATP production rate. Using these methods we further analyze the adaptive mechanism of various organs to the energy starvation or low oxygen conditions. Our final goals are to establish the new concept of energy metabolism and to identify the therapeutic target of metabolic disorder diseases.
