Outline

Electricity price in Japan has been on the rise because of the severe shortage of electricity supply since the 2011 Great Earthquake. In view of the situation, this study intends to shed a renewed focus on the system of Japanese electricity demand and supply. The study is particularly interested in providing a solid analytical framework in the field of economics that enables us to conduct cost-benefit analyses on various policy options including expanding renewable energy sources, and providing incentives to demand-side control.
