The 3rd International Workshop
“ Technology Assessment: A Stable Solution or Only Relevant
Under Pressure? ”(July 11, 2014)

This workshop was planned responding to a suggestion from Institute for Technology Assessment and System Analysis (ITAS) in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) from Germany, and had also the collaboration from the Universidade Nova Lisbon (Portugal). It was a good opportunity of knowledge exchange between RISTEX program members and the other participants.

Technology assessment has been currently developed with an interdisciplinary approach including economics, sociology, environment, ELSI, law, culture and political science, and is one of important issues of Science of Science, Technology and Innovation Policy. However, this scientific approach is not yet developed in a specialized way in Japan as it is in other countries. This workshop was a contribute to increase the debate on these issues and exchange experiences. In this workshop, some new insights on technology assessment were suggested in the oral and poster presentations. New cooperation initiatives in this field can emerge.
