Objective

We aim to offer answers to following questions:

  • Was the society with peer pressure good? What are existing problems?
  • What types of organization should lead scientific advice? Is it possible to formulate rules for releasing scientific information as guideline?
  • Rather than getting back to normal, would it be possible to habituate a part of interventions so that stressless society with interventions can be attained?

Outline

The project is divided into three distinct teams. Team 1 (Nishiura, Kyoto U) aims to rationalize and optimize public health and social measures, and also to quantify the ideal picture of scientific advice. Team 2 (Noguchi et al., Doshisya U) will be engaged in science communication, exploring the way that scientific advice will be made and also providing the guideline by which scientific information will be provided to the nations so that behavioral changes are smoothly attained. Team 3 (Usui, Niigata Seiryo U) gives insights into social psychological aspect of COVID-19, focusing on social mechanism of peer pressure and process of habituation, identifying how the new normal life without psychological stress can be attained.
