Research Theme

Our understanding for molecular mechanisms of light signal transduction in cells has been increasing. These results have established that the signal transduction cascades are diversified by combination with several protein domains that could be functionally modular. In this study, artificial light-responsive proteins will be constructed by swapping the domains, which allows us to control activities of any enzymes and transcriptional factors in a blue light-dependent manner. The system will be useful for both basic and applied sciences.
