Research Theme

Micrometer-sized water droplets often exist in clouds and, play important roles in the earth遯カ蜀ア climate and atmospheric chemistry. Freezing of supercooled water droplets is the initial step in the precipitation. In order to estimate global warming, the effects of a solute on the temperature and the kinetics of the phase transition of a supercooled water droplet should be revealed. In order to investigate phase transition of single water droplets in air, temperature and humidity control methodologies for laser trapping and spectroscopy in air will be developed.
