Purpose of the meeting

In 2018, the Government of Japan announced the establishment of the Moonshot Research and Development Program.
With the aim to develop radical solutions for difficult societal issues of various kinds, the Moonshot R&D Program will set ambitious Moonshot Goals which inspires people in the world, and will orchestrate challenging research and development to achieve the goals, gathering the wisdom of scientists from around the world.
The Government of Japan, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) are organizing a Moonshot International Symposium in December, 2019.
The major objectives of the symposium are to discuss innovative program management of Moonshot research and to examine the Moonshot Goals to be set for the Moonshot R&D Program by collecting world’s brightest wisdom. In addition, the symposium is an opportunity to further publicize the Moonshot R&D Program to the world and to encourage participation of researchers from academia and industry around the world in the program.

Note

  • Participation in this symposium is free. Please note that you are responsible for paying transportation and other expenses when you visit the venue.
  • In the case of excess applications, the secretariat will draw lots and only selected persons will be able to participate. The secretariat may re-balance the lottery to avoid too many applicants of the same affiliation (company, organization, etc.) being selected. The content of the symposium will be published on JST’s website.
  • In mid to late November, the secretariat will notify you of the lottery results via the e-mail address you provided in the registration form.
  • At the reception of the symposium, selected persons will be required to show the notification e-mail to staff to receive an admission card.
  • Personal information you provided in the registration form will be used only for management of this symposium (including notification of the lottery results). Your personal information will be managed according to JST personal information handling policy, so please check and agree to the privacy policy before proceeding to participation application.
  • Please note that only the WG6 “Creating innovative non-traditional science and technologies based on quantum and related phenomena” is to be held
