"Gaps in Ethics 3" Gray Zones in Research Activities Humanities and Social Sciences Version

Story

In the Ikeda lab at Nanyo University, while students work hard to write papers on their own research themes, each member of the lab faces problems related to research ethics issues, such as research data management, authorship, and duplicate submissions. Sasaki, a graduate student, submits a paper under the instruction of Professor Ikeda, but her paper is suspected of being duplicate submissions. She consults with Professor Ikeda, but will she be able to receive appropriate guidance and advice from Professor Ikeda? Also, Yamaguchi, a graduate student, notices that Professor Ikeda's paper is suspected of self-plagiarism, but wonders whether she should tell this to her professor, who is in the position of her supervisor. Professor Ikeda has instructed lab members to actively write papers and produce research results, but as a supervisor, he looks back on what researchers should be like, such as whether there were any problems in research ethics in the conduct of research so far.
