Artificial intelligence (AI) is advancing rapidly and is now transforming science and technology itself. However, while the human brain learns efficiently with limited resources, current AI largely relies on the scaling law. This paradigm leads to excessive consumption of computational resources and raises serious environmental concerns.
This project draws inspiration from the human brain, focusing on mechanisms that autonomously compress and organize information to develop highly efficient and transparent AI. By bringing together leading young researchers in Japan, we will design theory-driven mechanisms for autonomous information compression and validate them through large-scale computational demonstrations. Furthermore, we aim to establish a new academic discipline, “Mathematical AI Informatics,” and promote AI theory research originating from Japan, contributing to resource-efficient and trustworthy AI.
