AMED & JST-RISTEX Joint Session: Consideration of ELSI in COVID-19 Pandemic(Nov.23,2021)
Events | Nov.23,2021
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact on every aspect of our life and society, and everywhere in the world we needed to face unprecedented situations. At the same time, COVID-19 provided an opportunity to reconsider the relationship between humans/society and S&T, as well as a motivation to question existing framework of co-creation with society with regard to infection research. AMED and RISTEX (JST) called for proposals in FY2020 for surveys and R&D that focused on ethical, legal, and social implications/issues (ELSI) of emerging infectious diseases. This session will be held to provide a space for researchers to report on the results of surveys and the progress of projects, and to stimulate discussion based on diverse viewpoints of "ELSI of emerging infectious diseases" provided by researchers at the frontline of COVID-19 research.
