Strategic International Collaborative Research Program (SICORP) Information on EIG CONCERT-Japan 6th Joint Call

The Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) is accepting proposals for collaborative research projects under the framework of EIG CONCERT-Japan with 9 organizations from 8 European countries in the field of "Smart Water Management for Sustainable Society".

Smart Water Management for Sustainable Society

Outline of research fields

This call aims to promote the creation of innovative technologies and management systems to contribute to the overall challenge of water sustainability by inviting research teams from both Europe and Japan. Research scope in this call includes various topics such as innovative water treatment technologies and development of efficient and sustainable water management systems that optimize quality and quantity of water at stages of its supply, discharge, reclamation and resource recovery. Projects submitted to this call can be expected to take practical approaches with consideration of various social aspects such as energy consumption, environmental burden, public health sanitation, and circumstances specific to local communities.

The collaborative activities in this call will fall in line with efforts towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Details of Support

Projects selected for funding in this call will receive support for a period of 3 years totaling no more than approximately 18,000,000 JPY including indirect costs of 30% of direct costs. It is expected that 5 projects will be funded.

Eligibility

Researchers

Any independent researcher personally affiliated with (and actively conducting research at) a domestic Japanese research institution (or who would fulfil this requirement by the start of the research project if not currently affiliated with a research institution in Japan), regardless of nationality, is eligible to apply.

Consortium

In addition to the Japanese team, the project consortium must include members from a minimum of two different European countries listed as participating in the call. Researchers from countries not participating may also be included in the research consortium, however they will not count towards the minimum country participation stated above.

1. EIG CONCERT-Japan Submission Portal: PT-Outline (whole consortium)

Proposals should be jointly drafted by your team and jointly submitted electronically via the PT-Outline portal. Only the project consortium's Principle Project Leader needs to make this submission.

2. e-Rad Project Registration (Japanese team only)

In addition to the PT-Outline submission, the Project Leader from the Japanese team will have to register their application information, legal compliance checklist and compliance agreement on the Cross Ministerial R&D Management System (e-Rad).
