Friends of SATREPS is an online community (SNS) providing a platform for international collaboration in science and technology to researchers and other people concerned with the future of our earth and human society.
The SATREPS program is based on collaboration: Instead of working on separate projects, researchers join hands to tackle challenges together. The Friends of SATREPS site encourages such collaboration by providing a venue for new encounters and for sharing ideas and information. The report on an OECD project led by JST SATREPS is now available:
"Report on Opportunities, Challenges and Good Practices in International Research Cooperation between Developed and Developing Countries." (PDF:3.51MB)

This report describes issues and options that deserve the attention of scientists and administrators in industrialized countries and in developing countries, as they seek to design, initiate and manage collaborative research programs and projects that include both scientific and development goals. The report identifies good practices and new ideas, and presents options for concrete actions, compiled during the course of the Global Science Forum project, which included a data-gathering and analysis phase, and culminated in a workshop held in Pretoria, South Africa, in September 2010.

Since introduced in 2008 and proposed in 2009 by the Delegation of Japan, this OECD project had been run thus the report was written by the members of JST SATREPS in cooperation with the OECD Secretariat.

The report has already been in use; 350 copies are distributed at the UN Conference on Least Developed Countries (9-13 May) in Istanbul.
