Support Organization
General Description of the Research Project This research will use UAV, RTKGNSS and sensor technology developed and utilized in past SATREPS project (enhancement of seismic volcano monitoring and utilization of disaster prevention information) and e-ASIA project ( UAV disaster information collection system ) in the Philippines, to conduct demonstration experiments to improve volcanic and seismic monitoring of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) and disaster response support of local governments. The Japanese side will prepare production/installation/operation manuals and conduct preliminary experiments in Japan. The PHIVOLCS side is in charge of hazard assessment of volcanoes, active faults, tsunamis, landslide impact assessment by local governments. They will conduct production, installation and test operations for each under the guidance of the Japanese side, and demonstrate the swiftness and reliability of monitoring information. At each experimental site, PHIVOLCS will conduct workshops for local governments and residents to demonstrate the feasibility of implementation to the society including the final recipient of information.
