Focusing on large amounts of waste heat, our goal in this ALCA Enabling Technology Project is to surpass the conventional technologies by innovating technologies for waste-heat reduction, recovery, and storage. We especially focus on low-temperature waste heat that is produced massively but is difficult to be converted into electricity.
Using waste heat, we develop a highly efficient steam engine operated at less than 100°C and a thermoacoustic engine operated at less than 300°C. In the latter, we not only examine power generation but also the refrigerating machine.
