Research Outline

This research project focuses on the development of a new catalytic system for efficient production of energy-carriers from renewable energy sources. Inspired by the biological ammonia synthesis mediated by the active site of nitrogenase, we design and synthesize new cluster molecules of iron group metals as artificial catalyst precursors. The electrocatalytic reactions based on the cluster catalysts will offer efficient ways to store electrons in chemical bonds.
