Outline

We will develop synthetic organic reactions with methane as a C1 source utilizing newly designed dinuclear metal catalysts having a metal-metal bond. The unique catalysis of the metal-metal bonds will enable direct methylation reactions of various organic molecules using methane as an electrophilic, a radical and a nucleophilic methylating reagent. This research will realize atom economical and energy saving meterial synthesis without use of methanol, methyl halide, and carbon monoxide.
