Outline

Photosystem II (PSII) catalyzes light-induced water-splitting, leading to the generation of electrons, protons and oxygen. PSII is a super complex containing a Mn cluster where the water-splitting takes place. In this study, I will elucidate the mechanisms using femtosecond X-ray free electron laser and visible light laser. This result will reveal the oxygen evolving cycle proposed by Kok and lead to information for design of the artificial photosynthesis.
