Outline

Brown adipose tissue (BAT) works like energy plant in our body. Since BAT intake glucose and fat to burn and generate energy, activation of BAT is effective against obesity and metabolic syndrome. This research focus on photoreceptor, Opsin3 (OPN3), which express adipose tissues and try to exhibit novel way such as “light stimulation” to activate BAT function. Furthermore, to developing treatments for metabolic syndrome, I will unveil the cellular and molecular mechanism that underlie light-induced BAT activation through OPN3.
