Outline

Social media, expected to play a role in connecting diverse information and people and thereby encouraging the creation of chance and value, has to some extent been encouraging social segregation and information homogenization. To solve this social problem, this study proposes new social networking principles for supporting diverse information flows and value creation by developing and validating the idea of “multidimensional weak ties” through computational social science approaches. It also aims to establish foundations for implementing the proposed principles.
