Overview

This research area aims to create new strategies against the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and innovative technologies which lead to the new strategies, by interdisciplinary collaborations of researchers from a wide variety of research fields.
The outbreak of COVID-19 is thought to have occurred in the city of Wuhan, China in December 2019, and the World Health Organization declared it a pandemic on March 11, 2020. It has had a tremendous impact on our daily life and the economic and social activities. Because of our concern about the re-spread of COVID-19 infection, the economy and the society have been forced to be stagnant for long periods of time. In these circumstances, it is urgently required to make our society resilient against infectious diseases and to promote science, technology and innovation in order to underpin the efforts.
Thus, this project aims to minimize the impact which is caused by SARS-CoV-2 on our society, and also to create fundamental technologies to coexist with emerging or re-emerging infectious diseases including COVID-19 by utilizing a wide variety of science and technology in order to build a resilient society for the new normal with COVID-19 and the post-coronavirus future.
