The Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), in the interest of promoting international research interaction and exchange among researchers in Japan and also as part of its involvement in the Belmont Forum, is accepting proposals for collaborative research networking projects in the call Tropical Forests: Global Implications and Pressing Actions.
Summary
The Belmont Forum is an international group of funding agencies and scientific organizations that are involved in support of global environmental change research, that aims to further accelerate and develop work in that field by mobilizing researchers and funding through international cooperation, in order to tackle the various challenges related to sustainability issues. The activities of the Belmont Forum comprise strengthening engagement among global research communities and improving coordination of strategies, priorities and funding of global change research.
The Belmont Forum conducts Collaborative Research Actions (CRAs - often including a call for proposals), in various fields. Recent joint calls for CRAs were launched in the research fields of Systems of Sustainable Consumption and Production (2022).

As part of its CRA activities, the Belmont Forum is launching a joint call for research proposals under the theme of Tropical Forests: Global Implications and Pressing Actions, in which it will accept proposals for multilateral (involving contributions from three (3) or more countries) collaborative research projects. Through joint evaluation of proposals by experts from call participating countries, selected projects will be jointly funded by the participating agencies.

BFgo pre-proposal deadline: Tue, November 26, 2024
e-Rad deadline: Wed, November 27, 2024 09:00 (JST)
BFgo final proposal deadline: Fri, May 30, 2025
*The e-Rad deadline is one day after the BFgo deadline due to time zone differences.
**No new e-Rad application is required for the final proposal deadline.
How to Apply
Proposals should be jointly drafted by your team and jointly submitted electronically to the BFgo electronic submission system. All call documents, proposal forms and instructions can be downloaded from the following website:

Details of Support
A research project selected for funding in this call will receive support for a period of 3 years totaling no more than approximately 8,000,000 JPY/year (including indirect costs). Full details of support can be found in the Japanese guidance information above.
