Outline of R&D Project

The electride is a unique material in which electrons act as anions; the electride, however, has long been considered too unstable for practical purposes. The new material C12A7 (12CaO·7Al2O3) electride, developed by HOSONO’s earlier ERATO, ERATO SORST and FIRST projects, has the major advantages of being chemically and thermally stable, and able to emit electrons easily. In ACCEL, we plan to apply this unique material to practical uses, such as high-functional catalyst, electronic materials, and so on.
