Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr. is an Undersecretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of the Philippines since March 2017. He oversees the Department’s Science and Technology (S&T) development and supervises agencies attached to the Department that provides necessary S&T services such as science education and communication, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, and S&T programs including S&T planning, capability building and S&T human resource development. He spearheads the Department’s disaster risk reduction and climate change related undertakings.

He serves concurrently as the Officer-in-Charge of the DOST - Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) and is a designated Commissioner for UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines, from 2017- up to present.

Fortunato Tanseco de la Peña has been serving as the Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) since July 2016. He obtained his BS Chemical Engineering and MS in Industrial Engineering degrees from the University of the Philippines (UP). He taught Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at the UP College of Engineering for 43 years, from 1973 to 2016, while also serving on a secondment basis at the DOST occupying various positions between 1982 to 2011. He served as Vice President for Planning and Development at the University of the Philippines and as Undersecretary of the DOST prior to his retirement in 2014. He was appointed as DOST Secretary in 2016. He was President of the following organizations: The Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Association of Management and Industrial Engineers of the Philippines, the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology and the National Research Council of the Philippines. He also served as Chairman of the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development in its 15th Session from 2011-2012. He received awards from the Professional Regulation Commission, the Civil Service Commission, the Career Executive Service Board, the UP Alumni Engineers, the UP College of Engineering, the UP Alumni Association and the Ateneo de Manila University. In 2018, the University of the Philippines conferred on him the degree of Doctor of Laws (honoris causa).

Dr. Marla Redillas received her Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Kongju National University, South Korea in 2012. From 2012 to 2016 she was a Research Fellow working in LID/GI Research Center in Cheonan, South Korea. Since 2017 has been appointed as an Associate Professor and Head of the Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering Division in the Civil Engineering Department at De La Salle University. Her research interests include environmental engineering and water resources management particularly water quality, diffuse pollution and stormwater characterization and management in urban, agricultural, industrial and transport-related landuses using LID, GSI and NbS. She currently serves as Board Member of the International Water Association Diffuse Pollution and Eutrophication Specialists Group and Editor of the Journal of Wetlands Research. She was awarded as 2019 Outstanding Young Scientist by the National Academy of Science and Technology and 2020 Outstanding ASEAN Science Diplomat.

Currently he is a Director, Center for Integrated Research of Future Electronics, and a Professor, Institute of Materials and Systems for Sustainability, Nagoya University. He shared the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physics with Prof. Isamu Akasaki and Prof. Shuji Nakamura "for the invention of efficient blue light-emitting diodes which has enabled bright and energy-saving white light sources". He is currently developing technologies for the fabrication of high-efficiency power semiconductor development and new energy-saving devices at Nagoya University.
