The Moonshot International Symposium was held to discuss innovative program management of Moonshot Research and Development – an ambitious new program from Japan’s Cabinet Office implemented by national funding agencies including JST. The event was attended by over 600 representatives of the international public, private and academic sectors.

Day 1's sessions explored the technical aspects of the Moonshot program and important lessons to remember going forward. JST president Dr. HAMAGUCHI Michinari highlighted the importance of contributing to Human well-being. Eminent representatives of the international science and technology community expressed their support for the Moonshot program and enthusiasm to partner with Japan in this endeavor.

On Day 2 individual Working Groups gathered to discuss potential Moonshot goals. The Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (CSTI) will use these discussion results to inform their decision on the final Moonshot goals in early 2020.
