Outline
To make stable food production under environmental change, it is important to improve productivity in stress environments. In this project, we will develop a novel system enabling the rapid development of cultivars with high environmental adaptability. The growth of terrestrial and subterrestrial partsand the physiological states (nutrient elements and metabolites) of plants growing in a field will be measured, and the pattern of drought stress response will be modeled based on genetic and environmental factors. By optimizing genomic constitutions and mating designs with model-based simulations, the process of developingnew cultivars will be accelerated.
