Aiming to realize a sensor node system driven by ambient thermal energy, we develop a silicon nanowire thermoelectric generator which is compatible with the fabrication technology for integrated circuits. We focus on establishing an electrode contact technology to maximize the power generation capability of nanoscale semiconductors. For this purpose, we study the behavior of electrons and phonons at the nanoscale metal-semiconductor interfaces using our knowledge of computational physics and advanced measurements.
