Outline

With an aim for overcoming a latency bottle-neck which will emerge in future cyber-physical-system (CPS) society, here we propose a new optical computing technology enabled by novel optical phenomena in nanophotonic structures, by which computing can be executed at the traveling speed of light. We plan to realize ultralow-latency information processing technologies by a light-speed processor in which critical paths for calculations are executed optically. This will be enabled by our novel computer architecture in which electronics and photonics are deeply merged within the level of calculations.
