We have conducted a project achieving zero carbon housing to 2050 by direct linking forest management to the use of domestic wood in urban environmental friendly housing". A NPO “Tennen-Jyutaku,( Natural Housing)” has promoted natural material environmental friendly and energy conservative housing using domestic wood by direct dealing with a lumbermill. Under the very severe situation for forestry management and lumber business by very low timber market price, the Tennen-Jyutaku has achieved supplying high performance housing with affordable cost and simultaneously could support lumber business and forestry management for afforestation. Our project pursuits making a direct chain management process from forestry, lumbermill, housing construction and financing. To support the penetration of the housing, we developed the finance system of a citizen bank and now developing an environmental certification system of environmental friendly housing, which may put appropriate price for high environmental performance housing in the secondhand housing market. For verification, observation of indoor environment and lumber strength quality with low temperature drying process have been promoted, and we analyzed long period 300 years Life Cycle Assessment of CO2 emissions from afforestation to demolishing of the housing.
