On Sunday, October 4, 2026, the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), represented by President HASHIMOTO Kazuhito, and the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development of Vietnam (NAFOSTED), represented by Director Prof. Dr. DAO Ngoc Chien, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on joint research funding in Kyoto, Japan.

The signing took place on the occasion of the Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum held in Kyoto.

The MoC aims to promote research and development activities and strengthen collaboration between researchers in Japan and Vietnam through joint research funding. Under the MoC, JST and NAFOSTED will promote research collaboration through joint funding initiatives, including the NEXUS (Networked Exchange, United Strength for Stronger Partnerships between Japan and ASEAN) Vietnam-Japan Joint Call for Proposals for Joint R&D Projects. Through these cooperative activities, further advancement of science, technology and innovation cooperation between Japan and Vietnam is expected.
