The Department of NBDC Program held the Symposium of Database Togo (Integration) 2022 online on October 5, 2022 and attracted many participants from various organizations. We planned presentation sessions for the adopted projects of the Database Integration Coordination Program (DICP) and poster presentations by those involved in database development based on the general proposals and integrated data analysis and use.

At the beginning of the presentation session, Dr. Takashi Ito (Research Supervisor, DICP and Professor, Department of Basic Medicine, Kyushu University) spoke about DICP’s goals and expected outcomes from the newly funded projects in FY2022. Then, each team leader from six new research projects presented their concepts, target outcomes, and future vision.

There were 55 poster presentations by researchers and engineers working in development, operation, and utilization of the database. The posters were displayed on the NBDC website’s homepage one week prior to the symposium, which enabled the participants to view them in advance, thereby facilitating seamless discussions with the presenters on the day of the presentation.

Furthermore, since we facilitated the participation of as many people as possible in the presentations by using Zoom breakout rooms, the participants were able to access the breakout sessions with ease.

The symposium welcomed a total of 267 attendants and concluded successfully through the planning and execution of the event’s activities as described above. NBDC will actively commit to planning events and disseminating information on data integration in the life science field, which is the foundation of the digitalization policy of the Japanese government.
